My review of my HP2000 APU is way over due. I don't spend much time online, so it's not something I think about, especially when I'm very happy with the unit and the one on one service with Randy.
I purchased my unit about … More 2.5 - 3 years ago. There was a problem the first summer with the AC compressor working properly in the Arizona heat when it got over 90 degrees. Essentially, the compressor was too big for the engine. It would run fine and cool great until the defrost cycle. After defrosting, the compressor would kick back on and the engine oil pressure would drop too low causing the unit to throw a code and shut down. From there, it wouldn't start again until the outside temperature dropped below 90 deg.
After discussing with Randy, I returned to their location in Marion where they replaced the compressor with a unit more compatible with the engine HP. This was warranty work, and it didn't cost me a dime.
The updated unit works great. Occasionally, if the outside air temperature is over 108 deg, the engine oil pressure will drop too low and shut the unit down after a defrost cycle. However, after waiting 15 to 20 minutes, it will start and run again. I should note, this condition has only happened in the extreme heat of daytime hours. Overnight, even when 105 outside, the unit has functioned properly.
If your expectation is that your APU, regardless of manufacturer (or any piece of equipment), will work flawlessly in extreme temperature conditions, hot or cold, you don't understand mechanical equipment and their limitations.
I rated the HP2000 and Parks Industries (formerly known as) with 5 stars, because the one on one service I have received from Randy is 2nd to none. He always takes my call (or calls me back right away), and with him, there is no stupid question. He will walk you through trouble shooting or maintenence questions. I like that the unit is easily serviceable and I can pick up the filters I need at any NAPA store. They have stood behind their product, which has been excellent!
I consider it a plus that they only have one location for service. I might have to book freight to get to Marion, but when I get there, they get you in and out quickly, and their technicians are very skilled. I leave confident that the work was done correctly.
I highly recommend anyone considering the purchase of an APU to seriously look at the HP2000. It takes less frame space than most. It weighs 100 lbs less than most, and they aren't drilling 100 holes in the back of your sleeper. Instalation is quick and the least intrusive in the way of modification to your truck. Happy trails.

LOVING it. And Randy's customer service is above and beyond anything you will find anywhere. Very, very good at guiding you through trouble shooting when you have a weird manufacturer defect on a ground wire connector. Wanted to add … More that changing oil on this unit is by far the easiest I have ever had! And I have had 3-4 different kinds on my past trucks.
Update: 1-29-26
Still absolutely loving this unit. Heater will cook me out even in the coldest temps, 5* and below, with the curtain closed. AC does a great job too, of course with any apu’s , the hotter it is the curtains need to be closed. However once it’s dark at any temp have been able to open the curtains behind the seats and just have the window curtains closed and it stays super cool.
And as always, customer service is the best with Randy!! -

Update as of 4-9-25: Got my unit "souped up" today, brought the AC system up to the new model standards as they've made several improvements since my unit was built. Felt like it was a good time to do that with Spring right … More around the corner. Once again Randy, Mike, Terry and the rest of the crew did an incredible job of making sure I was happy with my unit. Don't believe the haters in these reviews. I've been in business for years and I've never encountered anyone that has their customer's back as much as Randy!! This guy knows these units like the back of his hand, and he will help you if you have an issue if you just reach out to him instead of hating on him in these reviews. Give him a chance to help yall. Kaylor Trucking LLC looks forward to continued business with Randy and the crew and they complete the transition from Parks Industries to EcoFleet.
Got my HP2000 installed last Tuesday, also had them install a bunk heater. From the time I pulled into the shop, to pulling out, exactly 5 hours. Thats pretty awesome, it's a pretty big job but they have it figured out to do it that quick! -

I have had my HP2000 on my truck now for a few months and it has been a decent unit so far. I do like how it's easy to service in most regards, but it has its issues. There is no east way (that I have found) to tighten the a/c compressor … More belt, the way the coolant lines are plumbed I can't shut off the taps for my cab heater without the unit over heating, and it had thrown a belt off the first week I had it. These have all been pretty easy to deal with mind you and I wouldn't say it's a reason to avoid these units.
They advertise 20,000btu cooling and I'll agree with some other reviews that it does seem to have issues cooling the trucks bunk, mind you Mines an 82" high roof black western star so there's a lot of glass, and a lot of space to cool. It does do a great job however of keeping the bed area comfortable with the optional vent towers at the head and foot of the bed.
Other then the minor issues, I've had nothing but good experiences with parks, from a quick (5hour) install, to customer support after, they have been easy to deal with and I will likely get another unit for more trucks in the future. -

I have purchased a second hand truck last summer and it has an HP 2000 installed but it is not working. I can't comment on Park Industries yet but I'll update soon 😉
1st Update : I have finally made it to HP 2000 and I must tell … More you that I haven't seen any of the behavior some drivers are complaining about. The shop is actually OK, I wouldn't avoid them. Obviously they have the right tools and knowledge to fix these units, that's for sure. My unit is 7 years old and was an absolute dead beat 🤦 and somehow they managed to bring it back to life! 🤭The owner, Hally and the mechanics are really cool and quite nice. I don't understand how some of the drivers are complaining about the shop. But then if you show up with the wrong attitude I can understand why some of yall get the cold shoulder. I can't wait to use my newly revived unit! I'll update you on pricing and how it runs in a few weeks. -

Fantastic service!!! Called on Tuesday with a few problems I needed addressed and Holly was on it. She was able to schedule me for the next day to get repairs done. In and out in under 2 hours with all repairs. PJ was knowledgeable about … More what he was saying and the explanations he could provide were in layman’s terms so also east to understand. I’ve had my unit about a year and recommend it any time I’m asked about it. Will only bring my unit here to be fixed when necessary. Highly recommend them to anyone. -

Just had it installed today!… Only took them four hours to install the unit with a 2000 watt inverter… air tower…step and platform….I was expecting it to take all day… Very friendly staff very informative. Did a beautiful job on the install… … More they have a great drivers lounge….. I did a lot of research before I bought a APU…. I’m pretty sure that this is the right choice… This is made in Marion, Illinois, USA baby!! -

From 120 degree Summers to -7 degree Winters, my HP2000 APU and Bunk Heater has done everything as advertised. Last night I turned my Truck off while parked on a block of ice that used to be Rawlins WY Flying J parking lot, and the APU … More kept the Fuel, Coolant, and Batteries functional. Truck started up this morning with zero issues, after 14 hours of sitting in sub zero wind and ice. Highly recommend this APU. Worth every penny. -

Just wanted to say I love my HP2000, I was broke down in Ashton, Idaho for 4 days (truck motor issues) the temps were in the single digits, I barley idled my truck,
the unit did a great job of keeping my dog and I warm, anyone who is thinking … More about buying a unit and thinking it's too much money it's very well worth it. You will save in fuel and idle less. Thank you Parks Industry!!! You will definitely have our business again.
